The AquiMap project pretend to promote the growth of the aquaculture activities in the Portuguese estuarine systems, identified like areas of aquaculture production. Thus, the specific objectives of this project are:
- Development and implementation of high resolution biophysical models for Portuguese estuarine regions
- Validation of hydrodynamic and water quality models
- Elaboration oh high resolution maps for essential variables for different species with commercial value: salinity, water temperature, dissolved oxygen and nutrients
- Development of Exploration Index concept and preparation of maps for each estuary in study
- Identification of species with bigger exploration potential for each estuary in study
- Development of maps created on WebGis ambient with the objective to promote the total accessibility and divulgation of the sites and ideal conditions to establish the aquaculture production areas, for the general community
- Accompaniment and monitoring of aquaculture production areas, to make profitable the fish production
